Guyanese teams Spartons, Rage and Specialist collided last night in the final of the Georgetown Dominoes Association (GDA) international tournament at Faye Joseph residence, Gaulding Place, South Ruimveldt.
After battling with a number of local sides as well teams from Barbados and Antigua, Spartons, Rage and Specialist gave their supporters much to cheer about on Sunday night last at the National Gymnasium as their registered semifinal victories.
Spartons scored 77 games to beat Eight Miles of Barbados on 70 and All Season Racing Service 67. Kanhai Samaroo made 14 games for the winners, while Cheryl Warrell made 17 for Eight Miles and R. Naidoo 17 for All Season.
Rage chalked up 86 games to overcome TNT with 76 and Mix Up on 62. Ron Callendar marked the maximum 18 games for Rage while Jack Sardina made 17. Ryan Boodhoo was Mix Up leading player with 18 games; Mark Welch made 15 and Sean Morgan 14.
Specialist recorded 82 games to finish ahead of Dream Team 77 and Thunder 65.
The winning team will pocket a trophy and G$1M, the runner up a trophy and $500,000, third place a trophy and $300,000 and fourth place a trophy and $200,000. (Zaheer Mohamed)
