Alpha will begin their quest for to advance to the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League when they host Suriname’s Inter Moengotapoe and Trinidad and Tobago’s Central FC from April 15 at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
Aka, ‘The Hammer’, Alpha, Guyana’s most successful club side will play Inter Moengotapoe from 16:00hrs on Wednesday April 15; the Surinamese side will ten face T&T’s Central FC on April 17 before Alpha close out the group on Sunday 19th against the T&T side. Only the group winner will advance to the final round.
Four groups will contest the CFU competition, the other Guyanese side contesting is the Guyana Defense Force and they have been drawn in Group 2 that will be hosted by Trinidad and Tobago’s Direct TV W. Connection FC.
The other clubs in this group are SAP FC of Antigua and Barbuda and Waterhouse FC of Jamaica. GDF will play the host club in the feature game of the opening double header on April 15.
They oppose Waterhouse in the opening game of another double header on the 17th with their final game two days later against SAP FC.
Group 3 will be hosted by Haiti’s America FC and include, Montego Bay United (Jamaica), SV Excelsior (Suriname) and Club Sportif (Guadeloupe). Group 4 is made up of host Don Bosco FC de Petion Ville (Haiti), Helenites Sporting Club (VIR), Unite Sainte Rose (GLP), Lyford Cay FC (BAH).
All the group stage matches are slated for April 15, 17, 19 with the Final Round set for May 22 and 24 at a venue to be decided.
