Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) Sports Club and Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) recorded victories when the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Brain Street U15 limited-over tournament commenced on Saturday last.
At GNIC, the host beat Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) by nine wickets. Batting first, GCC were bowled out for 95 in 21.1 overs. Thameshwar Permaul scored 20; Jeremiah Benjamin claimed 3-45 and Daniel Paul 2-15. GNIC replied with 97-1 in 15 overs. Dwayne Dick scored 42 not out (7×4) and Ravi Ramnauth 17 not out.
At Muslim Youth Organisation ground, MSC overcame Diplomats by three wickets. Diplomats batted first and scored 90 all out in 23.3 overs. Orin Moore cracked 25 as Mark Wong grabbed 5-25 and Mel Rodrigues 3-23. MSC responded with 93-7. Wong made 17; Mini Permaul and Darian Dickson captured two scalps each.
The competition continues today with GYO hosting DCC (Randolph Rose and Linden Matthews), Everest playing St. Stanislaus at GNIC (Heuvel Cunha and Deon Feassal), Malteenoes SC entertaining GNIC (Daniel Richmond and Trevor Velaidum) and Transport SC challenging Diplomats at MYO (Leyland Liverpool and Reginald Grant). On Tuesday, DCC will journey to Everest (Richmond and Rose) and GYO will host Bel Air (Grant and Liverpool).
