Diplomatic Cat arrives for battle with Score’s Even and company
With the race day getting closer, the fever is getting hotter for the much talked about
Guyana Cup Fever horserace meet organised by the Jumbo Jet Business Enterprise and the Port Mourant Turf Club slated for Sunday 5th April at the Port Mourant (Big Yard) Turf Club.
Seven races are carded for the day with over $10M in cash, trophies and other incentives up for grabs.
The race meet is expected to be explosive with the arrival of the highly rated Diplomatic Cat, rated B in Guyana, for the feature A1 and lower event. The racehorse, which recently broke a track record in Trinidad and Tobago, touched down on Wednesday afternoon aboard a flight from Trinidad. It is one of a few animals that is coming into the country with a ‘B’ class rating.
The horse has been acquired by Mr. Sean Bacchus. According to Inshan Bacchus of Bacchus stable, he was very disappointed that the animal could not have been here in time for the “Clash of the Titans” meet due to problems with the plane. However it is here and will be making up for the lost time. According to Bacchus the animal was receiving special training in Trinidad and was well prepared for the occasion.
It has since been burning up the track as it prepares for the Easter Sunday clash and has been sending shivers down the spine of those who have witness it in action so far.
However, Dennis DeRoop of the Simple Royal Stable says that Score’s Even is ready for any challenge and at the end of the day they will all be roasting with fever when Score’s Even is through with them. On the other hand fans will be eager to see the return clash between Score’s Even and C.P Got Even as some punters believe that C.P Got Even’s path was blocked by some spectators on the track. What will be more interesting is that the distance will be 1800M and the question will be whether Score Even could negotiate the distance with over 136 pounds on its back. With animals such as the speedy and fit again Curfew Tower, Jack In My Style, Run Nana Run and Lady Budapest among others set to compete, race fans cannot ask for more.
The event which is the richest on the horseracing calendar for the year so far has seen entries swelling to over 65 at the moment.
