Rose Hall Town Bakewell (RHTB) won their fourth consecutive game in the Raffik and Sons Construction 20 overs tournament when they defeated Yakusari Cricket Club of Black Bush Polder by seven wickets at the Area ‘H’ ground.
Reduced to 15 overs a-side due to extra moisture on the pitch, RHT Bakewell won the toss and invited the visitors to take first strike. Yakusari were restricted to 90 for 9 off their allotted 15 overs.
Rajesh Lalu hit the top score of 41 (4×6) and was supported by Churaman Ayana 20 and Naipaul Ayana 15. Bowling for RHT Bakewell, off-spinner Mahadeo impressed this season with 3 for 9 from 3 overs while left arm West Indies female pacer Erva Giddings took 2 for 12 and veteran left arm spinner R. Lewis had 2 for 28 all from 3overs.
Needing to score 91 off 15 overs to continue their unbeaten run in the tournament so far, RHT Bakewell reached 93 for 3 off 11.3 overs; Mahadeo returning with the bat to score an even 50 (2×4 5×6) while Vishal Crandon chipped in with 18. Azam Khan on 5 and Jason Anderson 6 were unbeaten when victory was achieved.
The team would now take a break from the Raffik tournament as the New Building Society 40 overs would commence from this weekend.
