A Wisroc, Linden man is dead following an altercation with an Amelia’s Ward resident, whose home he had invaded early yesterday.
Dead is 37-year-old Kelroy Williams, who was brutally stabbed about the body,
and subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
The homeowner, Marvin McClennon, is now a patient at the Linden Hospital Complex.
McClennon, who sustained a stab wound to the neck, had to undergo emergency surgery at the health institution, according to reports.
His home at Phase Three Amelia’s Ward was shut tight, with a few pieces of wood barring a window that had several louvres missing– a clear indication where the intruders had gained entry.
This newspaper understands that Kelroy Williams, a 37-year-old resident of Wisroc, along with an accomplice had broken into McLennon’s home, and attacked him.
Williams was subsequently killed in the ensuing melee, while his accomplice ran away.
Informed sources indicated that the incident occurred around 6a.m.
One source indicated that they were awakened by the commotion, and heard someone shouting for “Rasta”.
Shortly after all three men ran out of the house, the source claimed. “The one that now dead, he run out bleeding bad, and he collapsed on the road, not far from the house, while de other one escape in the bush.
“But the man from the house he come out and go and braced on he car. He de bleeding bad too, so right away I call a taxi and carry he to the hospital.”
The resident applauded the alacrity with which medical personnel attended to McClennon.
They also noted that the man had recently moved into the house which had been completed only about a month ago.
“This man (McClennon) is a peaceful man; he don’t trouble nobody, sometimes we don’t even see him for days because he does be busy with he taxi work. So this thing come as a real shock,” one resident noted.
Speculation is rife as to the motive behind the incident, with some sources claiming robbery, while others have said that a triangular love affair might have been at the root of the tragic incident.
Meanwhile residents of Phase Three Amelia’s Ward are calling for the police to be more vigilant in the community, since they are not feeling safe.
“We don’t feel safe; we need police to patrol more. We also need a lot of the bushes here to be cut down, because only recently we notice a man crawling through the bush early morning, around six o’clock. Now why would a man be crawling in the bush at that hour in the morning? Clearly he was up to no good. We have a police outpost here, but we not sure what purpose it serving because a lot of things still happening,” one resident declared.
A police source, however, indicated that daily patrols are conducted in the area, and that the force is always willing to work with residents.
Investigations into yesterday’s incident are ongoing. (Enid Joaquin)
