With the pedigree of animals already lined up to take part in the “Clash of The Titans”
horserace meet set for Sunday 22nd March at the Port Mourant Turf Club, Corentyne Berbice, known as the Big Yard; One cannot ask for more.
However, the “Four Horse men Promotion” activity is attracting some even bigger names to the superstar cast already on board.
The latest word is that the much vaunted and record breaking Diplomatic Cat with a healthy rating of 77 will be on the plane in a few days on its way to Guyana. Acquired by Mr. Inshan Bacchus of Bacchus Racing Stable West Coast Berbice. Diplomatic Cat a six year old Colt from Discreet Cat out of leading Lioness recently broke the 15 year old lap record at Arima Park in Trinidad.
The race, with only four new animals on show, is turning out to be a mouth watering affair and the talk of the town. Horse owners, trainers, jockeys turfites and all those connected with the Horse racing fraternity cannot wait to have their animals participate in the coveted event.
It promises to be an event with a difference with the best horses in the country down to participate. Not in a long time so many high profile horses have been booked to participate in the feature event of a horserace meet.
With eight races on the programme and over $7M up for grabs a scintillating and action packed
day of racing is anticipated. So far over 30 horses have entered to be a part of the programme.
Can Treacle do it again or can Princess She Is not record another win over Score’s Even. A fit and ready Score’s Even will also have to contend with Curfew Tower and C.P Got Even. Or could the new brigade led by Spit Fire and Tiz a Holiday burn them up to lead an invasion and create an upset.
It will definitely be an explosion at the “Clash of the Titans” on March 22nd.
The four horsemen promotion is also pulling all the stops to make sure that it is the race meet of the year. In the absence of the long awaited horse Racing Legislation and the Government lethargy the Four Horse Men Promotion is putting a number of initiatives in place in an effort to return racing to some semblance of what it was before.
Imported horses will not be rated in addition to be classified. Lots will be drawn a few days before race day. The horses will be in the parade ring and paddock for a specified time. The horses will leave the parade ring according to their lot. The horses will have to enter the starting gates according to their lots. The above are subjected to minor infractions. The promoters also want to make sure that the races are run in a timely manner.
The feature A and lower event has a rewarding $1.2M winner’s purse and the Clash of the Titans Cup over 1600M.
The winning prize of $400,000 and trophy is available in the three year old event for West Indies Bred horses over 1200M. The four year old event will feature horse’s also classified D3 maidens and non-earners in the last six months over 1400 meters for a winning purse of $300,000.
