Road race set for tomorrow
Courts Furniture Store, Berbice branch, will tomorrow in collaboration with the Flying Ace Cycling Club (FACC) stage their annual Mashramani 40 miles cycle event.
The race, which is open to Berbicians only, is expected to pedal off from in front of the Court’s New Amsterdam branch at Main and St Ann Street in New Amsterdam, proceed to Adventure on the Corentyne before returning to finish at its place of origin in New Amsterdam.
All the top cyclists in Berbice are expected to take to the road in their quest for championship honours.
Prizes will be awarded to the first eight finishers, the first three juniors and first three females. The beginners will again be catered for as they will be required to ride a shorter distance. Eight sprint point prizes will be up for grabs. The BMX riders will also be involved in a one mile race where they are expected to ride from the New Amsterdam Technical Institute to the finish line. Prizes will also be awarded to the first three finishers in that category.
Cyclists from both Regions five and six are expected to participate in the day’s event with the likes of Andrea ‘Padlock’ Green, Ray Millington, Romallo and Jebon Crawford, Elijah Brijadder, Andrew Hicks, Wasim Hassnu, Audrel Ross, Edmond Francis, Keith Griffith, Wilbert and Gary Benjamin, Turhan Harris and Syborne Fernandes and top female rider Marica Dick among others expected to hit the road.

On Thursday manager of the Courts New Amsterdam Branch Stanley McKenzie presented the sponsorship cheque to coordinator Randolph Roberts.
