Maintaining the Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) ground will now become a much easier task after the club received a mechanical grass-cutter Thursday from Friends of Malteenoes- USA Chapter.
The equipment was handed over to president of the MSC, Neil Barry by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Dr. Frank Anthony in the presence of other members at Thomas Lands.
Speaking at the ceremony, Barry said the club was in need for such equipment.
“This grass cutter will of course enhance our ability to provide a better venue where sports can be played, mainly cricket,” Barry a former national cricketer said.
He thanked the MSC-USA chapter who has played an important role in the development of their ground.
Dr Anthony said he is pleased to render assistance the club adding that MSC was among the initial clubs to tap into the government’s grant of one million dollars each for the upgrade of venues across the country.
“We have seen that the club has strong leadership and over the years they have played an important role in developing young cricketers through their academy and that is something we want others to emulate,” Anthony added.
Speaking on behalf of the USA chapter, life Member of the MSC, Claude Raphael said that similar donations will be made to the club in the future.
He pointed out that MSC has been flourishing in its efforts to produce quality cricketers and improving its infrastructure, and this is yet another stride in that regard.
