Guyana Defence Force (GDF) sprinter, Akeem Stewart won one of two Open 300 metres on Sunday at the second Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) Development Meet at the Base Camp Ayanganna Ground, Thomas Lands.
In the first of two 300m races, Stewart clocked 34.6 seconds to win the event, following up his win two weeks ago at the first development meet held at the same venue. Linden’s Bevon Noble won the first 300m on Sunday in 34.5 seconds.
Natricia Hooper won the Women’s 300m in 39.1s with club-mates, Avon Samuels and Andrea Foster finishing second and third respectively.
Alisha Fortune returned to competitive athletics with an 80m win. Fortune also competes in Bodybuilding and was touting Rugby recently. She clocked 9.7s to win the event ahead of Tirana Mitchell (10.0) and Natrena Hooper (10.2) respectively.
Winston Missinger claimed the Men’s 2000m with a time of 6:01.08, finishing ahead of Odwin Tudor and Larry Nicholas. Alika Morgan won the female race clocking 7:17.1 for the win. Kezia Morgan was second with Nikita Wilson third.
Devon Barrington returned to the track, winning the Men’s 600m event. Cassey George won the female 600m event.
Maurice Gibson won the Men’s 80m in 8.9s to top Ian Campbell (9.1), who finished second. Devin Collymore (9.2) was third. Davin Fraser was also impressive, winning the Men’s 150m race.
