Everest, Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), Malteenoes SC (MSC) and Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) recorded
victories when the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/New Building Society second division 40-over tournament continued on Saturday last.
At Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO), Everest beat Transport SC by five wickets. Batting first, TSC were bowled out for 81 off the last ball of their innings after the game was reduced to 22 overs due to rain. Joshua Wilson scored 35 (6×4) and Claude Hoyte 24 (2×4,2×6). Left arm spinner Javed Rasheed grabbed 4-22 and pacer Kevin Paul 3-5. Everest replied with 84-5 in 19.2 overs. Khemraj Ramdeen struck 29 (3×4) and Riyad Satyaur 18 (2×4).
At MSC, the host thumped St. Stanislaus by 63 runs. MSC took first strike and scored 167-5 in their reduced 30 overs. Shaquille Moseley cracked 57 and Joseph Cupidore 35. Lindon Wilson took two wickets. St. Stanislaus made 104-9 in 30 overs in reply. Wilson scored 26; Andrea Andries claimed three wickets and Timothy Mitchell two.
At Eve Leary, GCC thumped Police by eight runs in a match which was reduced to 20 overs. GCC managed 115-8 in 20 overs. Dellon Fernandes smashed 36 and Bernard Bailey 25. Leon Rodrigues took three scalps. Police were routed for 107 in 19 .4 overs in reply. Troy Benn slammed 44, Trevor Benn 16 and Rodrigues 14.
Devon Lord snared 3-5 and Fernandes 2-19.
At DCC, the home team trounced University of Guyana by 133 runs. DCC rattled up 208 all out; taking first strike after the game was reduced to 20 overs. Dennis Squires led with 60. UG were bowled out for 75 in response. Squires returned to take four wickets.
