Curfew Tower out, newly imported Piz a Holiday to race for first time

Strategically organised, one day before Mashramani day and with thousands of persons expected home for the Republic celebrations the Rising Sun Turf Club is expected to be packed to capacity come Sunday 22nd
for the Jumbo Jet business enterprise and Rising Sun Turf Club “Jumbo Jet Sprint Classic”, one day Pre-Mashramani horserace meet at the Rising Sun Turf Club, Arima Park West Coast Berbice.
Over the past few weeks the Rising Sun Turf Club venue has been a buzz of activity with preparations almost complete. Renovation works have seen improvement on the pavilion, paddock, stables and track.
The nine race meet has over $7M on offer and so far over 50 animals have been entered.
With this being the first race for the new season it will be interesting to see how the horses perform. Although the final race programme has not been finalized there are a number of interesting races on the day’s card for the lucrative prizes on offer.
The feature D1 and lower event has so far seen an interested line up taking shape with the speedy Appealing Harvest of The Jumbo Jet stable and Right To Rule of the Jagdeo stable expected to move up in class to tackle the likes of Jack Is My Style, Red and Lovely, Passion for Song. Country Armage, of the Jagdeo stable is expected o make a return. With the speedy Curfew Tower not going, all eyes will be on Piz a Holiday of the Elcock stable which will be making its first entry in the racing arena. A few more entries are also expected for this event with owners having until tomorrow to make a final decision in their quest to claim the sumptuous $1M and trophy.
The E2 and lower event will see Captain Crook of the Jumbo Jet stable looking for its fourth win in a row for the $500,000 first prize and trophy. However it will have to first get past the likes of Swing Easy, Silent Night, Battle Hymn, Unsettled and War Craft among others.
The other events on the day’s programme are the race for Guyana and West Indian bred horses for a winner’s money of $500,000 and trophy.
There G class race has $400,000 and trophy up for grabs. There is also $400,000 and trophy on offer in the event for four year old animals. There is a race for Guyana bred and born three year old horses for a winner take of $250,000 and trophy. The winner of the H and lower race will also get $250,000 and trophy. The event for I3 and lower animals will see the winner taking home $200,000 and trophy. The J3 and lower event has a winning prize of $150,000 and trophy.
Among other animals expected to race are Release the Beast, It’s My Choice, Dream Come Through, Keep on Swinging, She So Special, Princess Alisha, Settling Jet and Awesome Warrior, Swing Easy, Settling Star, Gold De Cova, Miss Lewinsky, Silent Night, Settle in Seattle and Spit Fire are expected to burn up the opposition.
Among other top entries so far are Strom Bird, Unsettled, Just call Me Boss, Battle Hymn and War Craft among others the event is expected to be scintillating.
The event will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
