Five-wicket hauls by Naresh Nauthsingh, Davanand Chatterpaul highlight first round
Hotel Riverton Suites Upper Corentyne Under-19 fifty overs cricket competition bowled off last week
Saturday with two matches.
At No. 48 ground – No. 48 defeated Yakusari cricket club by 143 runs. Batting first No. 48 were bowled out for 188 in 31 overs. Narindradat Singh top scored with 53 and was supported by Bruce Seenarine 26 and Alvin Homraj 23. Bowling for Yakusari A. Persaud took 3 for 35 off 8 overs and J.Samaroo took 3 for 37 off 8 overs. In reply Yakusari were bowled out for 45 runs in 14.3 overs. Medium pacer Naresh Nauthsingh with bowling figures of 7 wickets for 6 runs off 6 overs did the damage for No. 48 cricket club.
Over at Skeldon Community Centre – Skeldon defeated No. 72 cut and load by 22 runs. Batting first Skeldon were bowled out for 112 runs in 29 overs. Deon Esau 32 and J.Byass 27 were the top scorers. Bowling for No. 72 Cut and Load Davanand Chatterpaul took 5 for 24 off 10 overs and was supported by Taleshwar Baichan 2 for 24 off 6 overs. In reply No. 72 Cut and Load were bowled out for 90 runs in 27 overs. Gavin Chatterpaul 18, showed some resistance to Skeldon bowlers. Bowling for Skeldon Aslam Baksh took 4 for 21 off 9 overs and was supported by M.C Haitnarine 2 for 13 off 5 overs.
The competition continued yesterday with Crabwood Creek VS. Skeldon Community Centre and No. 72 Cut and Load hosted No. 48 Cricket Club. Yakusari brew bye.
