The bloated, bloodied and decomposing body of an unidentified male was yesterday morning discovered in a clump of bushes alongside a track in the vicinity of Matthews Lane in the Christianburg/ Cholmondeley
Hill area, in Wismar, Linden.
The man who appeared to be of Indian descent, was clad in a brown three-quarter pants and white tee-shirt.
This newspaper understands that there were what appeared to be two gunshot wounds on the head of the corpse – one at the side of the forehead and another to the lower jaw.
The body was reportedly discovered by a resident who was attracted by the stench emanating from it.
Other residents claimed that they had become aware of the smell over the past few days, but thought that it might have been a dead animal.
“We see carrion crows flying around, but we ain’t tek it for nothing, we seh is some animal dead, so when we hear about de body dis morning it was shocking, because nobody ain’t expect to hear that is a man dead”, one resident declared.
There were others who claimed that they had heard what sounded like squibs going off on Monday night, shortly before midnight, and later hearing the sound of persons running.
“It sounded like squibs, but when you think of it, who gon be firing off squibs at that hour of the night, it had to be gunshots going off”, another resident declared.
Police were called shortly after the gruesome find, after which the body was taken away.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
