Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), Muslim Youth Organisation (TSC) and Third Class recorded victories when the latest round of matches in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/New Building Society second division 40 over tournament concluded on Sunday last.
At the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) ground, DCC defeated Diplomats by 188 runs. DCC rattled up 289-7 off their allotted 40 overs, batting first. Malcolm Hubbard smashed 76, Ronaldo Renee scored 62, while skipper Larry Smith continued his fine form with an attractive 44. S. Forde claimed 3-67 from and R. Mohamed 2-26.
Diplomats were bowled out for 101 in 15.4 overs in reply. D. Paul scored 51 as pacer Carlton Jacques captured 7-32.
At Bourda, GCC beat GNIC by 46 runs. GCC batted first and scored 201 all out with Joshua Wade scoring 45, Ronaldo Mohamed 35, Winston Forrester 32 and Elon Fernandes 26. Orlando Kirton grabbed 4-39 and A. Ifill 2-20. GNIC were bowled out for 155 in reply. R. Brown cracked 46, Ifill 37 and Joshua Persaud 27. Forrester snared 4-27 and Samuel McKenzie 4-36.
At Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO), the host defeated St. Stanislaus by 84runs. MYO took first strike and managed 155 all out in 39 overs. Abdool Kumar slammed 33 and Imran Ayube made 23. Irfan Ali captured 4-21, U. Boodram 2-6 and T. Belgrave 2-35. St. Stanislaus were skittled for 71 in 17.5 overs in reply. C. Gasper was the only batsman that offered any resistance with 21 as Shafeek Ishmael picked up 4-7 and Imtiaz Pooran 3-19.
At Gandhi Youth Organisation, Third Class overcame Transport Sports Club by eight wickets. Batting first, TSC were sent packing for 139 in 27 overs. Charwayne McPherson struck 36; Sunil Singh made 22 and Shawn Massiah 21. Andre O Neil, Keon Bailey and Samuel Mohabir claimed two wickets each. Third Class responded with 140-2 in 39 overs. Shivnanand Roopnarine stroked 55 and Alvin Castello 38.
