The Young Warriors Cricket Club of Cumberland, East Canje, Berbice was able to secure sponsorship for the second time from A Ally and Sons Showroom of Sheet Anchor Public Road in the Canje area.
At a simple presentation held recently, Managing Director Waqar Sahid said that he is impressed with the work of the club and is always willing to assist whenever the opportunity presents itself. He added that he is a follower of the club and observes that progress has been made over the years with the club continuing to produce cricketers.
He was high in praise for the way the ground is kept and the infrastructural work done but was very sad and disappointed when he learnt that the club’s covers was stolen supposedly by persons from the same community.
Speaking on behalf of the club, senior coach and cricket technical director Hubern Evans thanked A Ally and Sons Showroom for their confidence in the club and this tournament in particular. He promised that the company will receive good mileage and the tournament will be smoothly run, as it was in the past. A detailed financial statement will be sent to all sponsors and stakeholders at the end of the tournament.
The tournament will be played on Mash Day, a national holiday and will consist of eleven second division teams in the area. This highly anticipated championship will be nonstop action and is of five overs per side.
Attractive incentives for teams and gate prizes for fans will be up for grabs. Proceeds from this event will go towards the further development of the club. The YWCC would like to thank the other sponsors on board so far.
