Despite the fact that the dates for the Inter County Under-15 Tournament has not made public as yet, the Berbice Cricket Board is taking all steps to make sure that their team is well prepared for the competition.
After several intense sessions around the county, the junior panel of selectors led by the experienced Leslie Solomon, shortlisted thirty eight players to participate in two trial matches. The first was played on Saturday February 7th 2015 at the Cumberland Cricket Ground in Canje.
Ritesh Umroa eleven won the toss and took first strike and was bowled out for 148 in their allotted 44 overs. Berbice under-15 wicketkeeper batsman Junior Sinclair top scored with 23. He was supported by Brandon Mangal with 15. Off spinner Joshua Bacchus spun webs around the batsmen taking 6 for 9 in 6 overs. He was supported by another off spinner Aaron Beharry with 3 for 13 in 9 overs. Nikeem Noble and Brandon Pydanna supported with two wickets each.
In reply, Kevlon Anderson eleven replied with 130 for 8 in 44 overs. Berbice under-15 player Haife Walters top scored with 29. Cheddi Budhoo and Berbice under-15 opener Alex Algoo supported with 17 and 16 respectively. Jevon Schultz took 3 for 9 in 5 overs. He was supported by Nivendra Persaud and skipper Ritesh Umroa with two wickets a piece.
The second match was set for yesterday at the same venue.
