Jamal Bacchus, a 47-year-old farmer of 17 Caledonia East Bank Demerara, appeared before Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday to answer a murder charge.
It is alleged that on Wednesday last at Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) Access Road, Timehri East Bank Demerara, Bacchus murdered Dhanshana Ram.
Counsel for the accused, Attorney-at-Law Nigel Hughes, invited the court to examine an injury that the accused had on his head, and stated that he may be visually impaired. The necessary medical examinations are to be carried out.
Police Prosecutor Inspector Michael Grant explained to the court that investigations are on-going.
Bacchus was remanded to prison, until his next court appearance on February 27.
