A truck laden with logs and six 45-gallon diesel containers overturned on the back road in Fair’s Rust, yesterday, around 18:00 hrs.
According to the porter of the truck, Junior Cupidore of 36 Kuru Kururu, Linden Highway, they were coming from Bisaruni, which is 20 miles from the Berbice River, and were heading to Kuru Kururu.
Cupidore noted that they were using the front road and were turned back by the police to use the back road. He claimed “this is slackness cause de road messy an nobody ent looking after it. Hope they look at it now.”
Two of the containers were filled with diesel and all spilled.
The angry porter said “I want u to write a prappa report that whosoever responsible fuh maintaining de road come an fix it. They tek long fuh even set de East Bank right an duh deh right in dey face. Dis hey, all ah dem benefitting from dis, coz when dis (logs) go pon de container is all ah dem does benefit. We want dem to look after de road because this is expense on de truck owner.”
Officials at Bosai offered assistance in getting the truck back on its four wheels. The driver was nowhere around.
