The much anticipated Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc (GSCL Inc) Republic Cup is now set to
bowl off on Saturday at Everest Cricket Club with action in the over-40 category.
The tournament was set to commence on Saturday last, but the organizers were forced to reschedule the fixtures due to rain.
Six teams will battle in the over-40 division for a top prize of $200,000 and a trophy while the runner up will take home a trophy and $100,000. At Everest (09:00hrs) Regal Masters will face Floodlight on pitch three, Industry Superkings will battle Tropical Spring Masters on pitch one and Amazon will play Parika Defenders on pitch two.
At 13:30 hrs, Regal will take on Parika Defenders on pitch three, Floodlight and Industry Superkings will match skills on pitch two and Amazon will take on Tropical Spring Masters on pitch one.
The Open segment will commence on Sunday at the said venue and will be of 15 overs duration. The winner will pocket a trophy and $150,000 and the runner a trophy and $60,000. At 09:00 hrs, Regal will play Wolf’s Warriors on pitch one and Speedboat will challenge Farm on pitch three.
At 11:30 hrs Regal will battle Farm on pitch three and Speedboat will face Wolf’s Warriors on pitch one.
At 14:30 hrs, Farm will play Wolf’s Warriors on pitch one and Regal will tackle Speedboat on pitch three. The top two teams will contest the final.
On Saturday 14 at the said venue (09:00hrs) in the over-40 segment, Regal will play Tropical Spring Masters on pitch one, Industry Superkings will clash with Parika Defenders on pitch three and Floodlight will battle Amazon on pitch two.
The top four teams will then contest the semi finals from 13:30 hrs. The team that finish with the most points will play the fourth placed on pitch three, while the second placed will take on third on pitch one.
The competition will conclude on Sunday 15 at Everest, an exhibition game will precede the finals from 09:00 hrs. Admission to the venue is free.
