Ryan McKinnon has continued his fine form from 2014 by winning the opening event of the Guyana Sports Shooting Federation (GSSF) 2015 calendar sponsored by Woodpecker Products.
Held on Saturday last at the Guyana Defence Force Timehri Ranges, McKinnon was the only shooter to keep a 100% record throughout the three stages of shooting, staving off stiff challenges from the likes of David Dharry and Ray Beharry.
McKinnon completed the finals stage, Push On, completing his 21 shots in 16.57 seconds, 5 seconds less than his closest rival, Dharry.
Six shooters contested the match and when the final shot was fired, McKinnon came out as the overall winner with a total of 201 points followed by Dharry with 137 and Beharry on 124. The lone female on the day, Vidushi Persaud placed 4th on 117 points with Shawn Smith (79pts) and Michael Blake (67pts) occupying the 5th and 6th spots.
Trophies, compliments of sponsors, Woodpecker Products were presented to the top three finishers.
GSSF President Vidushi Persaud thanked all the competitors for taking part and the sponsor for ensuring that the top performers were adequately rewarded for their efforts. The GSSF will host a Steel Plate competition next month.
