A 32-year-old horse cart operator arrested last week after police ranks reportedly found him with a suspicious motor car, has been remanded to prison on an unlawful possession charge.
Delon Small, of Roxanne Burnham Gardens, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Friday to answer to the charge.
It is alleged that on January 20, last, at Roxanne Burnham Gardens he was found in possession of one AT212 motorcar suspected to be stolen or unlawfully obtained. Small denied the allegations. Police Prosecutor, Inspector Michael Grant said that acting on information received, a party of police ranks went to Small’s home. They met him and told him of the tip they received after which he pointed out the car to them.
According to Grant, when Small was asked if the vehicle belonged to him or whether he had any of the relevant documents for it, he said “no.” Small was cautioned, arrested and charged.
Grant objected to bail and Small was remanded to prison. The 32-year-old will return to court on January 30.
