A Meten-Meer-Zorg resident, who had been a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) since last year, ended her life last evening around 20:30hrs by jumping to her death.
Dead is 39-year-old Sheniza Farouk.
The woman, who was suffering from Chronic Renal Failure jumped head first from the top floor of GPHC’s three -story new wing.
Reports are that Farouk was quite determined to end her life. Kaieteur News was told that other patients in the Female Medical ward tried to stop Farouk as she attempted to jump. However, the woman strongly rejected those efforts even biting patients who tried to stop her. It was their screams that alerted nurses that something was terribly wrong.
No one could have said, definitively, what was the driving force behind Farouk’s decision to take her own life.
Farouk was admitted to the health institution on December, 20 last year.
Up to press time last night, none of Farouk’s relatives had made their way down to the hospital.
