The Association of Regional Chambers of Commerce (ARCC) and the Berbice Chamber of Commerce and Development Association (BCCDA) have welcomed the reduction in fuel prices as announced by the Minister of Finance.
According to the ARCC in a press statement, this reduction will greatly assist the various business sectors of Guyana and the relief to each household should be tremendous.
“ARCC calls on its member Chambers to ensure that the businesses within their catchment areas pass on these savings to the end users, especially those in the transportation sectors. Since every mechanism of business within society directly depends on some type of fuel for its operation, ARCC is confident that the relief from the reductions will channel its way to everyone and looks forward to the highly anticipated reduction in consumers’ utility bills,” the Chambers stated.
“While demand will cause other suppliers to re-look at their prices, we hope that they will consciously make the price changes for the benefit of all stakeholders. We appreciate that Government will constantly try to re-look at the ways and means it can adjust its policies so that every Guyanese benefit whenever situations such as these occur in our economies, and to continue to work with all private sector bodies on issues that will greatly improve the livelihood of all Guyanese.”
The Berbice Chamber also noted that fuel savings will certainly help to boost all other industries, and bring much relief to the consumers, especially with their utility bills.
“We call on all to ensure that these savings are passed on to the final consumers in every business circle and the other fuel players in the market to follow suit. We note also Government’s intentions of constantly re-looking at the prices on the local market with what is happening on the world markets.”
