Spartons registered 51 games to capture the August Beverage Enterprise/Lyall Gittens four-game dominoes title on Monday night last at Norton and
Green Streets, Newburg. Legends, who drew the bye to the final placed second with 41 games, one more than Killers.
Shawn Mc Kenzie and Akini Solomon tallied 11 games apiece for the winners while Lorna Mayers contributed 9; Shafeek Abdool and Iube Khan made 8 each for the runner-up team. Killers leading players were Amanda Singh and Byram (only name) with nine and eight games respectively.
Killers won the semi final encounter after amassing 39 games ahead of Spartons 37 and Mix Up 30. Clifford Sardianha marked nine for Killers while John Chance and Kanhai Samaroo contributed 10 and 8 respectively for Spartons. Mark Wiltshire had nine for Mix Up.
Mc Kenzie received the Most Valuable Player prize while Spartons pocketed a trophy and $160,000. Legends received a trophy and $100,000 while Killers also got a trophy and $60,000. Mix Up collected a trophy and $10,000 for fourth place.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Managing Director of August Beverage Enterprise, Shellon August congratulated the winners and thanked the other participating teams adding that they are pleased to be associated with the sport.
Gittens informed that the Platinum Co. tournament will commence in Bartica in April.
