It’s My Time is top horse with two wins
By Samuel Whyte
Lady Secret of the D. McKenzie Stable out of the Kiltern area, Corentyne definitely has a secret for the Budhan Memorial Sports Complex by winning yet another feature event. The animal owned by Tandica Richmond and ridden by Colin Ross showed that it is the boss as it once again dusted the field to win the feature event when the entity held their grand one day horserace meet at the Club’s No 66 Corentyne, venue.
As the animals left the starting gates with a level break there was jostling for position as they hit the far turn and into the back stretch. Lady Secret with Ross on the perch was among the back bunch as the race got deeper. However as the horses hit the far turn for home, Lady Secret began to take orders with Ross spurring her on. The racehorse then picked up pace as it came through with a burst of speed ahead of the rest of the field as front runners Little, Red Jet and Sunny Silence wilted under the pressure. The winners took away the $120,000 top money and Budhan Memorial Trophy.
It’s MY Time of the Mahase Narine stable made sure that it was definitely its time winning two races. Ridden by Motilall the racehorse was in winner’s row in the two K class events, claiming the $70,000 and trophy on each occasion, beating Red Region and Cart Man in the first encounter and then returning to defeat Red Region and Magnum in the other race.
Magnum with Wills on the perch was in winner’s row in the L1 race as it won the $40,000 and trophy from Map Head and Sudden Star.
Sophia’s Choice of the Stewart Stable of Corentyne and ridden by Takurdyal won the L2 event ahead of Brown Boy, This Day and Forgiven Kid. The win was worth $30,000 a trophy.
The event for non winners was taken by Turn About ridden by Prem ‘Light Weight’ Chandra with Sudden Star and Go Zapper rounding out the money.
All the events were run over six furlongs.
The Narine stable copped top honours with trainer Mahase Narine taking the top trainer award. Jockey Brian Wills was the top rider on show.
The day’s event was by and large incident free and a good crowd was on hand.
Organisers Neville and Andrew Budhan were happy with how the day unfolded and would like to thank all their supporters and fans for their support.
