A 38-year-old accused of stabbing his coworker to death during an argument in a mining pit; has been remanded
to jail on a murder charge.
Reynard Romaine of Linden, who stood before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, is alleged to have murdered 41-year-old Seibert Moore on January 2, 2015 at Frenchman, Upper Demerara River.
Moore, a resident of Victory Valley, Wismar, Linden, was reportedly slain during an altercation in a mining pit at the Empire Mining Company. According to reports, the two men were arguing when Romaine pulled out a knife and stabbed Moore to the chest, and other parts of the body.
Moore was pronounced dead on arrival at the Linden Hospital Complex while other employees caught the assailant and handed him over to the police.
When the charge was read to Romaine, he was not required to plead. The case was prosecuted by Police Prosecutor, Inspector Michael Grant who revealed no details during the brief hearing.
The miner was remanded. The case was transferred and is set to be called on January 13 at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
