The nation’s top Dominoes teams are set to battle for supremacy from January 4 when the Mark Wiltshire Dominoes competition commences at Faye Joseph residence, Gaulding Place, South Ruimveldt.
The competition is being hosted by the Georgetown Dominoes Association in honour of its secretary Wiltshire’s 60th birth anniversary. Entrance fee is $10,000. The winning team will pocket a trophy and $200,000, the runner up a trophy and $100,000, third place a trophy and $50,000, fourth a trophy and $20,000 and fifth a trophy and $10,000. The best female player will take home $5,000, the player sharing the first love will receive $3,000 and the player sharing the first double love $5,000 in the play offs. One re-entry will be allowed.
Teams from Bartica, Essequibo Coast, East and West Coast of Demerara, East and West Bank of Demerara, Mahaicony, Mahaica, Berbice and Georgetown are slated to take part. The competition will conclude on January 18 at Malteenoes Sports Club. For more information teams can contact Wiltshire on 665-5855.
Meanwhile, F and H Printing Establishment has thrown their support behind the competition. Upon presenting the cheque of an undisclosed amount to Wiltshire at their location in Campbellville yesterday, manager of the entity Hazim Hakh said they are pleased to be associated with the contest. Wiltshire thanked Hakh and stated that the competition is expected to be keenly contested. He is asking that teams be registered as early as possible to ensure a prompt start.
