Two bandits on a motorcycle shot a 62-year-old security guard while he was on duty and escaped with his revolver in Roxanne Burnham Gardens, Georgetown, at around 23:15 hrs on Saturday.
The guard, Walter Williams of Charlestown, is nursing a gunshot wound to the left shoulder.
Williams told Kaieteur News that he joined the private security firm about four years ago and has only worked at the Roxanne Burnham Gardens residence.
He said that he and another guard were on duty when the incident occurred.
Williams said that he was standing on a bridge in front of the house when he noticed two men on a motorcycle passing.
“They passed me and they went up the road and a little after, they passed back. When they reached closer, I turn to walk inside and one of the men jumped off and fired two shots,” the guard recalled.
He added that the bandit grabbed his weapon and escaped.
The 62-year-old was rushed to the hospital where he remains a patient.
No one has been arrested as yet.
