The Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) received the backing of Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) under its Five 0 brand for the staging of its Boxing Day Meet which will be held at Bush Lot Farm Corentyne, Berbice.
Five O Brand Manager Maria Munroe yesterday handed over the first place trophy and an undisclosed sum for the F 1 and Lower race which carries a top prize of $320,000, to KMTC President Cecil Kennard. DDL’s funding covers an extensive amount for the event.
Speaking at the simple ceremony which took place at Kennard’s office, Brickdam, Munroe stated that they are happy to be associated with the event once again.
“The company has been supporting this event for over 35 years, we are impressed with the work they have been doing and we will continue to support this Meet,” she added. Munroe explained that this is their way of giving back to the society.
Kennard expressed gratitude to the sponsors and said that he looks forward to their continued support. “Over the years we have enjoyed a good relationship with DDL through its various brands,” Kennard pointed out.
He informed that despite some showers, the turf remains in excellent shape adding that fans can expect some exciting races. Registration closes on December 20 and no late entries will be accepted.
Horses can be entered through Roopnarine Matadial on 325 3192, Ivan Dipnarine on 331 0316, Cecil Kennard on 623 7609, 225 4818 or 226 1399, Dennis DeRoop on 325 3301 or 609 9143 and Fazil Habibula on 657 7010.
