With Information Technology playing a major role in almost every aspect of modern day life including crime
fighting, the Guyana Police Force appears to be following the trend when they selected one of their IT Specialists as the Best Cop for 2014.
Inspector Johnson of the IT and communication department of the force was chosen above nominees from all the divisions and departments of the organization.
He took home $250,000 and a trophy from among the $13M doled out this year for ranks who performed exceptionally well this year.
Johnson also received an all expense paid trip to New York on Dynamic Airways, compliments of Roraima Airways.
He thanked his colleagues from the IT Department for their support without which he could not have achieved the coveted title.
It was the first time that a policeman other than those in mainstream crime fighting had won the Best Cop award.
Apart from the annual awards, the Force also presented the 175th anniversary medal to all ranks who were enlisted on July 2014, minus those who were interdicted from duty.
