Silent Night of the Shariff Racing Stable, created an upheaval as it hit top form to whip the
field to take the feature G and lower 1600M event when the Alness Turf Club successfully held their one day horserace meet on Sunday last at the Club’s Track, Alness, Corentyne Berbice.
It was a very good day of racing as the six races were held incident free.
With top Jockey Colin Ross on the mount, Silent Night powered out of the gate in front of the field and never relinquished the lead for a commanding gate to pole whipping of the field.
The win was worth $300,000 and the Jumbo Jet trophy. I’ll Get Another got second place ahead of Bridal Stone Corner and Red Cloud. It was the second successive win in a feature event for Jockey Ross who is in tremendous form.
Speaking with the media, owner Mohammed ‘Nankoo’ Shariff stated that he knew the animal would win.
Little of The Apadhu Stable with Ross on the mount came big as it out dueled its opponents to win the J1 and lower 1000M race and the $180,000 and trophy ahead of Red Jet and Affinity.
Speed Vision of the Khan Stable ridden by Kevin Paul was too fat for its opponents to catch up as it took care of business in the J3 and lower 1000M event worth $160,000 and trophy from Lady Secret and
Royal Stallion.
The K class 1000M race saw Royal Stallion of The Dennis DeRoop stable with Rad Drepaul riding returned to take top honours with its My Time, Cart man and Royal Intention rounding out the money.
Red Region ridden by Wills of the Baker Stable was too hot to handle as it burned up the track to take the L1 class race as it won from Short man, Survival King and Fit To Fight.
Young Turn About ridden by Rodrigues made all the right moves as it won the L3 and lower event from Willie Up Town, Fit to fight and Go Zapper.
The champion Jockey on show once again was Colin Ross. The Apadhu, Sheriff and Simply Royal Racing Stables were the top stables.
Organiser Marcel Crawford was satisfied how the day’s activity was conducted.
