The Alness Turf Club one day race meet is set for tomorrow, at the Club’s track Alness Village Corentyne, Berbice.
Close to $3M is up for grabs and seven races are billed for the day’s card with attractive cash incentives and trophies at stake. So far over 40 entries have been received for the event.
Action will see the G and lower event over 1600M with a first prize of $300,000 and trophy, the ‘I and lower 1000M event will see the animals racing for a first prize of $200.000 and trophy, the animals in the ‘J1’ class event will be competing for $180,000 winners money and trophy over 1000M.
The race for animals classified J3 and lower will compete for a winners money of $160,000 and trophy over 1000M. The K and lower event will fetch a winning prize of $140,000 and trophy over 1000M.
There are also two events for L class horses which will be contested over 1000M. The first is for those classified L1 and lower for a winning take of $80,000. The second is for those classified L3 and lower for a winner’s purse of $60,000.
The facility is in good shape and a grand day of racing is anticipated. Outstanding individual performers including top Jockey, trainer and stable will be presented with trophies and other incentives. Race time is 13:00 hrs. (Samuel Whyte)
