Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Everest recorded victories when the Georgetown Cricket
Association (GCA)/ Banks Malta Supreme Under-13 competition continued last weekend.
On Sunday at Gandhi Youth Organisation ground, DCC overcame the host by 92 runs. GYO managed 230-6 off their allocation of 25 overs, batting first.
Extras contributed 23 and Brandon Matthews made 11. DCC suffered 13 dismissals, but scored 322 in 25 overs in reply. Dwayne Dick struck 20, Sachin Singh made 19 and extras assisted with 17. Matthews grabbed 4-12 and Shawn Thomas 2-19.
On Saturday at Muslim Youth Organisation, Everest trounced Diplomats by 28 runs. Diplomats scored 237-7 in 25 overs, taking first strike. Ntini Permaul cracked 23 while Jonathan St. Hill and Deonte Lupe made 15 each. Sachin Premchand took 2-15. Everest responded with 265-6 in 25 overs with 60 extras. Zacharia Mootoo and Ariel Tilku made 11 each. Joshua Campbell bagged 5-23.
According to the competition regulations, the batting side shall be divided into five pairs and each pair shall bat for five overs. Batsmen have unlimited “lives” but each dismissal results in 10 runs being deducted from the team’s total. Batsmen are allowed to change ends after each dismissal except on the last ball of the over. Each player on the fielding side must bowl at least two overs, with the exception of the wicket-keeper. Each team can commence its innings with a score of two hundred runs.
The winning team shall be the side scoring the higher number of runs after deduction for dismissals has been made. In the event of a tie the players on each side can bowl one delivery to the stumps and the team scoring the most hits will be the winner.
