Georgetown businessmen plying their trade in the Adventure Sands Area, on the Essequibo Coast, were robbed over the weekend of some $1.2M in cash.
According to reports, the men, who were selling goods from a Canter truck were robbed and beaten after the bandits stopped them under the pretext that they wanted to buy an item. The businessmen could not have recognized the bandits who later escaped.
The Georgetown businessmen, who sustained injuries about their bodies, received treatment at the Suddie Public Hospital and were sent away.
The men later lodged statements with police ranks at the Suddie Police Station where investigations are continuing.
No arrests have been made.
