In an effort to rekindle the interest of sports in the community, the Lusignan Sports Club (LSC) will be hosting a T20 cricket competition on Sunday from 09:00hrs involving Mon Repos, Goed Hope, Annandale and the home team.
Among the players expected to be on show are Emran Khan, Krishna Deosarran, Brian Sattaur, Somdat Bharrat, Rajindra Naikbaran, Kumar Bishundial, Vishnu Ramjeet and Steven Ramdass.
According to the club’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Vishnu Ramjeet, the competition is aimed at further developing cricket in the community and keeping the youths away from crime and alcohol.
He informed that the proceeds will be used to fund the club’s participation in the various competitions run by the East Coast, Demerara and the Guyana Cricket Boards. Ramjeet stated that he expects the event to be an exciting one while there will be lots of games and other attractions for children and a well stock bar. Admission to the venue is free.
Meanwhile, the PRO said that the Lusignan Cricket Club is in no way connected to the LSC and as such they are not authorised to transact any business on their behalf.
