The competitions are the brainchild of United States based former national football players Kayode McKinnon and Rickland ‘Tallo’ Hutson.

The aim of the tournament is to expose the talent of players giving them the opportunity of playing with the best around the country as was afforded McKinnon and Hutson who broke through the ranks as youth nationals and made it to the senior level representing Guyana with distinction.
Among those associated as donors and sponsors for this year’s competition are Monette McKinnon, Ryan Clarke, Collin ‘BL’ Aaron, Fizal Khan, Aaron Fraser, Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major, Bella’s Lumber Yard, Vonnette Jarvis, Juanita Phillips, Marilyn Waterton and Banks DIH.
