Judo practitioners honing their skills at the Masjid-an-Najm in Albouystown will now be more
equipped to address their tasks following a timely donation of a quantity of Ghees (judo uniforms) to their organization by a Good Samaritan who wished that his name be withheld.
The simple handing over ceremony was conducted at the Masjid-an-Najm, Independence Boulevard, Albouystown, yesterday afternoon and Abdul Rahim Forde performed the honours of handing over the items to his colleague, Director Imam Naeem Muhammad, on behalf of the donor.
The latter individual was indeed grateful for the gift and conveyed his sentiments to his benefactor. He explained that his organization emphasizes heavily on youth development. The Imam further noted that while academics are important to youth development, sports should also form a part of that development; he feels that it is an integral part of the process.
As such, Imam Naeem Muhammad said that his organization engages in several disciplines including tennis and football among other disciplines. He also said that President of the Guyana Judo Association, Raoul Archer, also a Muslim, conducts judo sessions and the gears would compliment such efforts. “We are intent on all round development of our youths,” he emphasized.
