The Guyana Police Force and the Ministry of Public Works have instituted changes in the flow of traffic in the Queenstown area, effective from December 1, 2014.
According to an advisory released yesterday, the bridges on Vlissengen Road, Crown Street and Lance Gibbs Street will be targeted.
Starting Monday, the Vlissengen Road Bridge at Crown Street will only be used one way for east bound traffic. Additionally, the Vlissengen Road Bridge at Lance Gibbs Street will be a one way heading west bound.
Thus, traffic heading southbound on Vlissengen Road wishing to access Queenstown will be able to do so at the Lance Gibbs Bridge. The Crown Street Bridge will be prohibited to traffic heading westbound, that is, into Queenstown.
Likewise, north bound traffic (heading toward the seawall) wishing to go east to access Bel Air, can no longer do so at the Lance Gibbs Street Bridge.
To ensure that motorists adhere to these changes, measures to reduce congestion, conflicts and delays will be put in place at Crown Street and Lance Gibbs bridges.
Motorists are also asked to be vigilant and look out for “No Entry” and “No Right Turn Signs” at the necessary roadways.
