A miner from St Cuthbert’s mission appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court after receiving medical attention
at the Georgetown Public Hospital yesterday, to answer an attempted murder charge.
It is alleged that on November 23, at Chinese Creek. Cuyuni River, Essequibo, Eldon Dundas unlawfully and maliciously wounded Mark Allen with intent to murder.
Magistrate Ann McLennan informed Dundas that the charge was indictable and he was not required to plead. The injured and accused man told the Magistrate that both of his feet were fractured and he was unable to stand to address her.
Dundas told the court that he is 30 years old, resides at St. Cuthbert’s Mission and is employed as a miner. He also stated that it was the victim who stabbed him first and that he didn’t do anything wrong.
Police Prosecutor Dinero Jones said that the victim Mark Allen is still hospitalized after receiving several chops from the accused, Dundas. Medical reports were presented for both of the victims.
The matter has been transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for December 3.
