The New Amsterdam Hospital was the recipient of an Electro Cardiogram (ECG) machine
compliments of the Sai Baba organisation. Recently a number of overseas based organizations visited Guyana and conducted a number of operations throughout the country including the New Amsterdam Hospital.
Among the organization was the Sai Baba Organisation which came out of the United States with a team of four doctors. The medical practitioners worked from October 6 to October 10, last. They carried out 25 major surgeries in the five days. The ECG machine was used to help monitor the heart.
The Caribbean Medical Mission (CMM) contingent with six doctors and four nurses headed by Dr. Cort, a former resident of Berbice, came to the Ancient County from October 26 to October 30. The doctors did over 44 surgeries, mainly in the areas of Gynaecology and General Surgeries.
Apart from the surgeries the CMM organizations donated two cardiac monitors, two foetal monitors and two infusion pumps and a quantity of medications.
The third team dealt with issues of mental health.
