A few changes have been made by the principals of the Budhan Memorial Turf Club for their one day Meeting set for Sunday at the Club’s track, No. 66 Village, Corentyne, Berbice.
The races for animals classified G, H and I have all been dropped as the organizers seek to give the lower class horses an opportunity to compete more. Six races are listed for the day with three races for horses classified J, one for K and two unclassified now making up the final programme.
So far over 40 animals including some of the top classes have been entered.
The K class event will be going for a mile while the race for horses classified J1 and lower will see the winner taking home $120,000. The winner of the J2 and lower event will collect $100,000.
The J3 and lower horses will compete for first prize money worth $90,000, the K and lower race has a first prize of $80,000. The final two races are for unclassified animals one and two. The track is said to be in very good condition and turfites are expected to experience an entertaining day of racing.
