One of two men arrested last weekend during a shootout with police, which left one man dead, has been slapped with four separate charges.
The additional charges were yesterday afternoon read to Rampersaud by Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that on October 22, Rampersaud discharged a loaded firearm with intention to maim and disfigure Savitri Harricharran. On the same day, while armed, he robbed Harricharran and relieved her of a bag, 1 Samsung cellular phone, documents and cash which amounted in total value to $43,000.
Kaieteur News understands that Harricharran, a 43-year-old mother of three of Lot 6 Tucville, Georgetown, was shot twice during a brazen daylight robbery in the busy shopping district at the corner of Robb Street and Avenue of the Republic.
It is also alleged that together with another on November 11, Rampersaud, armed with a firearm ,attempted to rob Rakima Ali and discharged a loaded gun at Inshan Alli.
The court heard that the accused, of 124 Middle Road, East La Penitence, Georgetown, was convicted for a similar offence. On Monday last, he was remanded for conspiring to commit a felony and robbery under arms at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. He is set to return to Magistrate McLennan’s Court on November 24.
