Ann’s Grove and Mahaica recorded victories when play in the Stag Beer sponsored East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) senior league continued on Friday night at the Victoria Community Centre ground, East Coast Demerara.
Facing off in the feature game, two first half goals by Ann’s Grove were enough to pilot them to full points against Buxton United. Maxton Adams in the 7th minute and Gavin Adams in the 26th were the players on target for the winners who are in 4th place on 23 points from 12 matches. Buxton Stars remain on 11 points from 13 games occupying the 7th place of eight.
The evening’s opening clash saw Mahaica whipping Sparta United 4-0 thanks to goals from Azumah Roberts in the 33rd minute, Kirk Roberts in the 45th and 47th and Curtly Adams who sealed the deal in the 65th minute.
The win was Mahaica’s sixth of the season which saw them moving to 27 points and third place in the standings, while Sparta lost their ninth game as they hold down the bottom place on 8 points from 11 matches.
Two matches are slated for the same venue today from 16:00hrs when Buxton United oppose Golden Stars to be followed by a clash between points leaders Victoria Kings and Mahaica.
