All systems have been put in place for the Bush Lot United Turf Club one day meet
tomorrow at the Club’s track Sea View Park, Bush Lot West Coast Berbice. With eight races slated for the day and close to $8M up for grabs, an action packed day of racing is anticipated.
On Thursday the principals of the Mohammed ‘Nankoo’ Sharif business establishment and Racing Stables made good on their promise when they presented a cheque for a substantial sum to the organizers. The handing over ceremony was done at the business entity’s farm and racing stable at No6 West Coast Berbice. Doing the honours for the Shariff Business enterprise was Trainer Glendon ‘Grumbs’ Sooklall, while Secretary Arjune Singh and Treasurer/Coordinator Lakeram ‘Buddy’ Sookdeo received on behalf of The BLUTC.
Over 60 horses have been entered for the days meet with the likes of California Strike, Famous Pride Settle In Seattle , Grande De Roja, Mission King, Unsettled, Right To Rule, Strom Bird, Fresh Again, settling Jet, Weekend Surprise, Battle Hymn, Silent Night, Cassie, top of the Line, Captain Crook, Princess Paige, Ameera’s Joy, Rosetta, War Craft, She Is Running hard, Royal Passion, Gold D Cova, Mary Ann, Red Steel, the Gump, It My Choice, Affinity, Empire Maker, I get another, Miss Lewinski, Settling Jet, Maggaline, Midnight Blue, Romeo, Million Dollar Baby among others in the running.
The events for the day included the ‘D’ and lower race for a $1M first prize from a total prize package of $2M and trophy with the animals set to cover a 1600M.
The F and lower 1400M event race for the $500,000 winning purse and trophy.
There is the 1600M race for three Year old Guyana and West Indies Bred and Born animals also for a first prize of $500,000 and trophy.
The 1200M event for two year old Guyana and West Indies Bred horses for a winners money of $400,000 and trophy.
The G3 and lower 1200M race for a winning purse of $400,000 and trophy.
The ‘I’ and lower horses will compete over 1200M for a winning purse of $250,000 and trophy.
The final two races are for animals classified the J and lower and K and lower over 1400M and 1200M respectively for winning takes of $200,000 and $150,000 and trophies respectively.
A number of sponsors are also on board with the Ministry of Tourism, Hand In Hand Insurance, Phagoo General Store, Qtrex International Shipping, Banks DIH, Buddy Shivraj, Jumbo Jet, Inshan Bacchus Trucking Service, Mohammed ‘Nankoo’ Shariff and Lakeram ‘Buddy’ Sukhdeo, Shano Seeonarine and Rohan Ouditt among others.
