Health 2000 Inc., one of the major sponsors of the Girls Pee Wee Schools Football
Competition which is scheduled to commence tomorrow, added another element to its involvement in the event when Managing Director Maliaka Persaud handed over a large quantity of multivitamins to the Organisers yesterday, at the Company’s Head Office in Industrial Site.
Receiving the gift on behalf of the Organisers Petra Organisation was its Co-Director Troy Mendonca, who in response thanked the entity for its insight to provide the Vitamax Vitamins and Mineral Syrup to the participating schools for use by the students.
Persaud, who was accompanied by Company representatives Shunet Lewis, Sherelle Greaves and Troxley Cutting, in her remarks, informed how ecstatic the entity is to be associated with such a tournament.
“I’m very honoured to be part of this tournament, especially since it involves young girls and I can tell you that when we were initially approached it was for us to sponsor the boys, but we sat down and discussed with the Petra Organisation the need to have one done for girls and they agreed,” Persaud disclosed.
The Managing Director pointed out that being the mother of a little girl she recognised that very little activities were being planned for them so with the cooperation of Petra and all the other sponsors they saw there was a definite need to start with such a tournament and the rest is history.
She added that the Company was extremely happy with what the Petra Organisation is doing and trying to achieve, especially with the aim being to channel the energies of the youths in positive programmes and because of this she is hoping that the relationship which has started will continue in the future.
Meanwhile, the Organisers have released the fixtures for opening with six matches scheduled to be played at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue, starting at 10:00hrs.
The games are: West Ruimveldt versus St. Stephen’s; North Georgetown against East La Penitence; Tucville matching skills with Stella Maris; Smith Memorial opposing F.E. Pollard; South Ruimveldt taking on St. Margaret’s and St. Pius playing Enterprise.
Twelve schools are participating in the inaugural competition.
