A five-wicket haul by Doodnauth Singh coupled by an unbeaten 90 from Tagenarine
Chanderpaul guided Tiger’s XI to a nine-wicket victory over host Meten-Meer-Zorg West in a 30-over match played on Sunday last.
Batting first and witnessed by a large crowd, the home team recovered from a precarious 36-4 to score 189 before they were bowled out in 29.5 overs. Seymour Evans smashed four fours and eight sixes in a top score 82 from 42 deliveries while Adrian Johnson supported with 23 and Emmanuel Chrisnauth 22; Singh grabbed 5 for 41.
Chanderpaul then stroked eight fours and four maximums as Tiger’s XI replied with 193-1 in 28 overs. Vishnu Sukhram slammed 63 (4×4 3×6) and Krishna Arjune 28 not out. Both teams received trophies while Evans was given the best batsman prize, Singh the most outstanding bowler accolade and Chanderpaul the man-of-the-match award. The game was sponsored by Odyssey Transport Services.
