Guyana’s distance running ace, Cleveland Forde placed fourth in the third stage of the 12th International Association
of Athletics Federations (IAAF) South American 10km Road Race when he competed in the event on Sunday in Panama.
Kaieteur Sport was unable to ascertain the official results from the race, but was reliably informed that Forde was fourth. Forde had won the first two stages of the race in Guyana and Suriname respectively, but slipped to fourth in the Panamanian stage.
The most dominant athlete since the inception of the race twelve years ago, Forde has won two stages six times for a combined 12 overall wins of 36 South American 10km races. Forde placed second the three times he competed in Panama (2009, 2010 and 2011), which is higher in altitude and demands acclimatisation to adjust breathing.
