A fine all round performance by Troy Rajaram led Skeldon High School to victory
over Tagore Memorial Secondary in the final of the Parbattie Jaggai Memorial U-17 Inter Secondary School 20/20 cricket competition for schools in the Upper Corentyne area.
In the final which was played at the Crabwood Cricket Ground, Skeldon High School took first strike and were bowled out for 105 in 19 overs with Troy Rajaram 25 and Tim Baichan 24 being the principal scorers.
Bowling for Tagore Memorial Aron Ajib took 3 for 18 off 4 overs. Tagore In reply were bowled out for 78 in 14.3 overs with only Vish Sugrim with 20 putting up some resistance. Bowling for Skeldon Rajaram returned to take 4 for 18 from 4 overs.
The Presentation ceremony which followed saw Steven Seeraj son of the late Parbattie Jaggai handing over the winner’s trophy along with a stationery voucher worth $15,000 to the Skeldon High School team. Second place finisher Tagore Memorial Secondary collected a trophy and a stationery voucher worth $10,000.
The man of the match award was presented to Rajaram for his good all-round performance.
Mr. Seeraj also thanked the UCCA for organizing the tournament and the schools for participating. He had special words of commendation for the winning Skeldon High School team. He also pledged to sponsor the competition next year while making a plea to the UCCA to expand the tournament next year to include the Bush Lot Secondary School team from the Central Corentyne area.
