– Targeting six teams in Open and O-45 categories
Following a break in the organizing of softball cricket in Georgetown, due to the playing of several tournaments including the “Guyana Softball Cup IV’, the Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc (GSCL Inc) organizing committee, led by the hard working Samuel Kingston, has organized a President’s Cup T20 competition using the big ball, with the aim of keeping softball teams affiliated to the League, active year round.
The upcoming President’s Cup will be facilitating the first six teams that register in the Open and Over-45 categories, with the entrance fee set at $50,000 per team in each class; the winning and runner up teams in both divisions will pocket $300,000 and $100,000 respectively along with trophies.
According to Kingston, the closing date for entrance fee is Monday, with the launching and drawing of the tournament taking place two days later, at the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) Sports Club on Woolford Avenue.
The tournament is slated to commence on Saturday 15th with matches continuing on Sunday 16th November, while the finals for both categories will be held on Saturday 22nd November, at a venue to be named, along with a female exhibition game.
The venues identified to be used for this competition so far are GNIC, Demerara Cricket Club, Queen’s College and Georgetown Cricket Club.
Apart from the above mentioned prizes, the Man of the Match in both finals will also receive trophies and interested teams can contact Kingston on 614-9536.
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
